About the Opportunity

A growing outpatient neurology organization with multiple locations across the Carolinas is adding an EMG / Nerve Conduction Technologist to its clinical team. This is a focused, dedicated electrodiagnostic role — not a generalist medical assistant or clinical support position. You will perform NCS and EMG-related testing as your primary function, working directly alongside neurology providers in a stable, structured outpatient environment with no nights, no weekends, and an early Friday finish.

What You'll Do

• Perform nerve conduction studies (NCS/NCV) and EMG-related electrodiagnostic testing in accordance with physician protocols and established clinical standards
• Prepare patients for electrodiagnostic procedures, explain testing process clearly, and ensure patient comfort throughout
• Obtain relevant patient history and clinical information required prior to testing
• Place electrodes accurately and operate EMG/NCV equipment to produce high-quality, reproducible diagnostic data
• Identify and troubleshoot technical artifacts, equipment issues, or unusual findings that may impact test integrity
• Accurately document testing data and ensure results are recorded correctly within the patient medical record
• Coordinate with neurologists and the broader clinical team to maintain an efficient daily testing workflow
• Maintain, clean, and prepare electrodiagnostic equipment and testing areas in compliance with infection-control and safety protocols
• Adhere to all HIPAA, patient confidentiality, and clinical compliance requirements

What You'll Need

• Prior hands-on experience performing nerve conduction studies and/or EMG testing — this is the non-negotiable baseline requirement
• Background in outpatient neurology, neurodiagnostics, electrodiagnostics, PM&R, or a related clinical environment strongly preferred
• Formal training in electrodiagnostic or neurodiagnostic technology preferred
• Professional certification or credentialing (ABRET, AANEM-affiliated, or equivalent) preferred; strong demonstrated experience may substitute
• Solid working knowledge of peripheral nerve anatomy, electrode placement technique, and NCS/EMG testing methodology
• Ability to produce technically accurate, high-quality studies with consistency
• Strong interpersonal skills — ability to work effectively with patients experiencing pain, weakness, numbness, or other neurological symptoms
• Excellent attention to detail, documentation discipline, and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently while maintaining close collaboration with physicians and clinical staff
